zu den Ticketszu dem KalenderThai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul is one of the few who really understands how to make real scenarios merge with unreal, enchanted, ghostly worlds. These free-flowing connections, often framed in lengthy static shots and given visual expression via precisely composed tableaus, characterize most of his films, including UNCLE BOONMEE. Here it is the ghost of his dead wife and their son who was lost in the jungle and has now become an ape man who are the transparent beings to seek out Uncle Boonmee when he returns home to die. Like the other family members and friends, the pair accompany him from one state of being to another. In images free of mysticism, Weerasethakul tells a story of life and death.
